First female District Governor of Rotary International District 9142 elected

Rotarian (Mrs.) Grace Chiboagui Okaro, a media personality and social development guru, has been elected the District Governor of Rotary International District 9142, Nigeria, to serve during the Rotary year 2022-2023.
Rotarian (Mrs.) Okaro, who has been serving humanity through Rotary for the past seventeen years, clinched the coveted position after a keenly contested election with two other male contenders, scoring sixty-seven point nine percent of the votes cast.
Consequently, Rotarian Okaro, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Umuahia becomes the first female District Governor of District 9142, Nigeria.
The District she is going to superintend over, constitutes of seven states of Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Cross River, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
The incoming District Governor had at different times, served Rotary Club in Onitsha, Anambra State, as one of the founder of the Rotary Club of Onitsha Central, served as Charter President and President of Rotary Club of Onitsha Central also the first female President in Anambra State from 2003 through 2005, before extending to Abia State, and now the whole of the district.
She also served as information officer, and later Head, Information, and Social Welfare department, in the Anambra State Local government system.
