Former Chief of Army Staff, Ambassador Buratai, Badminton Federation President, top officials join Emir of Keffi at badminton competition

Some eminent Nigerians especially Badminton enthusiasts joined the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo YamusaIII to declare open the 2022 edition of Badminton Tournament.
The competition is attended by 32 states in Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The Badminton Tournament was held in the Keffi youth center organised by Antau Badminton Club, under the sponsorship of the paramount ruler of Keffi on Wednesday.
The Chairman Badminton Federation of Nigeria, Mr Francis Orbih in his opening remarks said Keffi Badminton Tournament would be on record as the first of his official function since he took over office as the chairman of the Federation,after a little crisis that rocked the leadership of the Badminton Federation.
While thanking the host and sponsor if the tournament,HRH ,Dr Shehu Chindo Yamusa111,Francis Orbihi,said given the peaceful nature of Keffi and it’s unity,he is left with no option ” But make declaration of the Badminton Tournament as UNITY and PEACE 2022 Badminton Tournament” He declared.
Also ,the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development,Amb,Lucky I Yargwa,in an interview commended the organisers of the Badminton Tournament, especially,the emir of Keffi for creating an enabling environment an the initiative for youths across the states to participate in the game.
He applauded the contributions of the emir of Keffi,that of Doma and Lafia for their determination and making resources available towards sports development in the state,calling on other spirited individuals in the state to emulate their footsteps,as it has helped in taking alot of the youths out of the streets,curb out youth restiveness ,crime and drug abuses in the society.
Ambassador Lucky Yargwa, reiterated that the present administration of Engineer Abdullahi Sule,the Nasarawa State governor,pays premium attention to youth development ,hence the enhancement of sporting activities in the state.
On his part,the Badminton Federation chairman, Nasarawa State chapter,Alhaji Lawal Yusuf Yashi, expressed profound gratitude with the Antau Badminton club for organising the tournament,saying there every assurance and optimism that the event will not stop but continue in order to encourage other youths who may be interested to showcasing their talents in Badminton.
According to him” We are looking at a period where the Youths would not relay in political activities as their means of making money and fame.But takes sports at different levels, because you can be schooling and be participating in different field of sport,this is one area that if you want to make money or fame ,it is possible without much hindrances” He advised
He noted that Badminton is not too popular in Nasarawa State,Nigeria and west Africa, as it is in other civilized country,however it is a game that is very passionate and educating too,which involved both the veterans and active individual.
Earlier ,the Emir of Keffi,Dr Shehu Chindo Yamusa111 ,host of the keffi Badminton Tournament,thank the Nasarawa State government,the chairman of Badminton Federation of Nigeria and the participants for honouring the invitation,as it goes a long way to encouraging the youths in identifying with sports as a panacea for unity and peace.
The opening match was between National exhibition team players, Aliyu Shehu from Niger state and Ruth Ebire from Kano State scoring 21 points and 18 respectively.while Balarabe Lawal from Bauchi state played against Zainab Alabi of Kwara state in a 21 point against 13 respectively.
The Badminton Tournament was attended by Lt General (rtd) Ambassador Tukur Buratai, Keffi LG Chairman, Mohammed Baba Shehu and others.
