A former governor of Cross River State, Dr Clement David Ebri has donated a total of 900 books to the University of Calabar.

The last batch of 500 books was handed over to the university.

He said he got all the books from the United States of America, and that he has ordered more for further donations to another, the University of Cross River State.

He said he was challenged by the lack of enough books in many facilities which reason some of the courses were not accredited by appropriate authorities.

“The books I have donated I got them from America and they cover many subjects, including English, Communication Arts, Economics, Social, Environmental, Medical, and other sciences, and others.

“I first donated 400 books and now 500. I am still expecting more books, and I hope to also donate to the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) soon when more books arrive.”

Ebri said his intention is for the university libraries are well-stocked and for students to be attracted to reading.

Receiving the books, the Vice Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof Florence Obi commended the former governor for his selfless service and continual interest in the development of the state in all spheres

She added that the books will not only boost their libraries but will enrich knowledge of students and researchers.
