Former Gombe Governor, Senator Goje empowers 2,200 youths with cash to grow businesses

The beneficiaries of Goje business empowerment

As part of his contribution to the welfare of his constituents, the Senator representing Gombe Central at the Senate, Muhammadu Danjuma Goje has empowered 2,200 Youths under his Goje business empowerment scheme.
The beneficiaries comprised 1,000 males and 1,200 females who  were given various amounts of cash as startup capital for their respective businesses after they have been trained in various skills acquisition by the Gombe State office of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
Each of the male youths got the sum of N30,000 amounting to the sum of N30m while the various cash donations to the 1,200 females were not specified due to security reasons.
Speaking shortly after the presentation of the funds, Senator Danjuma Goje urged them to utilize the money for the intended purposes adding that it was in line with his vision of alleviating the sufferings of the people.
The Senator who was represented by one of his Political Aides, Special Assistant, Saidu Kumo, said that he had initially supported the beneficiaries with food packages, as well as starter packs comprising sewing machines, power generating sets to boost their businesses.
He however expressed worry over the increasing rate of youth unemployment in the state, with its attendant consequences on the society and said that, “This programme is aimed at eradicating poverty and empowering our youths in Gombe Central to have access to economic wellbeing.”
According to him, “This has been my tradition in politics, to empower people since the return of this democracy to get employment directly or indirectly.”
The former Governor of Gombe State also said that the purpose of the seed capital is to encourage self reliance as well as to eradicate poverty and unemployment with a view to boosting the macro economy of the state.
He confirmed that the programme is a part of the constituency project, saying, “I have been doing so many things, building schools, mosques, hospitals, providing buses, ambulance and executing rural electrification projects.”
Also Speaking, State Coordinator of NDE,  Hassan Mustapha, lauded the efforts of Senator Danjuma Goje, adding that the Senator is the first person to collaborate with the Directorate on empowerment of constituents.
He revealed that the beneficiaries were trained across different sectors of the economy in order to be relevant in their business pursuits.
The state coordinator urged the beneficiaries to use the sum to improve their businesses for the good of their families and communities.
