Former members of PDP national working committee hail Mazi Ohuabunwa

Ahead of the Special National Convention of the main opposition’s Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) scheduled for May 28 and 29 to elect the candidate for 2023 presidential elections, Sam Mazi Ohuabunwa, top contender for presidency has continue to receive thumbs up by several critical stakeholders in the party circle.

One of such groups is former members of PDP National Working Committee. The group which met Ohuabunwa on Thursday in Abuja said he stands up as one of the best among the aspirants for the president of Nigeria and PDP is blessed to have an aspirant like him.

The group having listened to Ohuabunwa’s transformative speech on how to salvage Nigeria if given the ticket and subsequently elected, the group said that Ohuabunwa has what it takes to remake Nigeria.

Kema Chikwe, a former minister of Aviation who led the group said Ohuabunwa is a competent bland that any party would want to parade comes 2023. She stated, with his vast experience and uncommon résumé in the private sector, the PDP family is proud to have him aspire to lead Nigeria.

Mazi Ohuabunwa who spoke earlier on why he wants to be the president of Nigeria said although he has made tremendous inroads in advocacy, but he feels it is more effective to involve in decision implementation.

The convener of The New Nigeria Group, (NNG) said Nigeria has appointment with destiny which indicates that PDP is the one to rescue Nigerians from the quagmire of underdevelopment. This, he added, PDP has not taken it that for granted.

What needed to be done according to Ohuabunwa is to look at what the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians are. “Nigerians are looking for who will solve the problems of poverty, corruption, unemployment, insecurity among others. They need a leader who has integrity, honesty, competency, courage and the fear of God to take them to the promised land” he pointed out.

Ohuabunwa said he has what its takes to meet the yearnings and these aspirations. “That was why we went round the country establishing NNG which has the vision to enthrone a new Nigeria that will be a first world nation that is globally competitive. A Nigeria that works for everyone, North or South, poor or rich, man or woman, abled or disabled, old or young, Christian or Muslim etc. A country that we can call our own. That is what we are coming to do, and that is what Nigerians want” he said.

The advocacy expert said, if given the opportunity, he will create a mortgage system to support especially, the youths and boost private sector, bring about health insurance scheme that will be efficient as well as remodel educational sector, making it solution based, and wealth creation.
