General election: INEC meets with security chiefs in Anambra

Ahead of the February 16 general polls, the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), held a crucial meeting with security chiefs of various agencies in the state as part of its security arrangement aimed at ensuring a successful violence-free election.
The meeting which had in attendance the Nigeria Immigration Service, Customs Service, the Police, Federal Road safety Corps, the Army, Department of State Security DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps NSCDC, Nigeria Prison service, National Youth Service Corps among others who came together to deliberate on security challenges that might mitigate against the success of the elections and proffer solution and as well report their preparedness during this month and next month’s General Elections.
Briefing Journalists shortly after the joint security meeting with the state INEC Boss, the state Commissioner of Police Mr. Garba Umar, expressed optimism that the indexes of minor or major problems have been strategized to ensure the success of the elections.
He urged the general public as well as politicians to play by the rules, assuring that the command will continue to provide adequate security before, during and after the elections.
Expressing confidence with their level of preparedness, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, tasked the Nigerian Police and other security agencies in the state on adherence to the provisions of the Electoral Act.
He advised members of the public to be confident in the process and come to out and vote as the state is safe and secure for all.
