The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), Major-General Waidi Shaibu, Friday played host to the newly elected executives of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Council.
In an address, the Chairman of the Chapel, Mr Inusa Ndahi, disclosed that the visit was to introduce the newly elected executives to the GOC and seek for his continuous understanding and co-operation.
He pledged his determination and readiness to continue to support the military by intensifying on news contents geared towards winning the hearts and minds of the general public.
Responding, Major-General Shaibu described the media as critical stakeholder in promoting peace and unity and urged the Chapel to portray the military in a positive light in the course of their operations as well as educate the public on the best social behaviour during conflicts.
He used the opportunity to congratulate the newly elected executives urging them to encourage the public to share relevant intelligence information with security agencies in order to bring to an end the ongoing insurgency.
