The Governer of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano has called on Ndi Anambra to remain calm as his government is on top of the security situation in the State.
He made the call at the Governor’s Lodge, Onitsha, during a statewide broadcast to update the masses on government efforts since the security challenges.
Our Correspondent reports that according to Chief Obiano who condemned recent attacks in the State, the unrest in some parts of the State is planned and targeted attack on security agents, stressing that efforts are on to apprehend the attackers.
While calling for all hands including Traditional Rulers, Presidents General, Youths, Market Task Force, among others, to be on deck, Governor Obiano explained that the Security Council have met twice to explore ways nip the challenge in the bud, stating that coordinated efforts to sabotage the security architecture of the State, will be resisted.
The Governor said that massive security agents have been deployed to Anambra which means that there will be increased security activities around the state, calling for understanding.
While sympathizing with families of victims of the unrest, the Governer announced that covered number plates and fitted tinted glass on private and commercial vehicles has been banned in Anambra State henceforth.
Speaking on cultism and touting, he stressed that following the video making rounds on social media about activities of Rica Cult Groups, three of the cultists have been apprehended and now facing the wrath of the law, calling youths to shun cultism.
Governor Obiano called on security agents to arrest touts brandishing sticks on the road to disturb people, and sympathized with the families of the late President General of Omor, who was kidnaped and killed, adding that massive security agents have been deployed to Omor axis till calm is restored.
