Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has commended his counterpart in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno for building a house in Ugep, Yakurr Local Government Area of Cross River for one ex-Youth Corper, Miss Arit Abam.
Governor Otu said such kind gesture has further consolidated the bond between the two sister states.
Governor Otu has also given automatic employment to the ex-corps member who honoured father in viral video, giving her freedom to decide which of the ministries or agencies she would like to work.
Few weeks ago, Abam honoured her father’s sacrifices to give her higher education.
Miss Arit Anam returned to her father’s thatch house in their village and filmed herself marching towards him; with a military-style salute, she thanked her father and handed over both her NYSC jacket and fez-cap to him.
She posted the video on social media, with a touching note of gratitude and a charge to youths not to be ashamed of their humble backgrounds; which eventually went viral.
Governor Otu hosted Arit in his office where he charged youths in the State and beyond to emulate such acts he described as “worthy of reward.”
Acknowledging God, Abam has expressed thanks to Governor Otu for his magnanimity, saying it is an encouragement toward maintaining cultural standards and values.
According to a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Otu, Mr Gill Nsa-Abasi, Abam is a graduate of Mass Communication from Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State.
