“Sports unites people of different diversities and now in Nasarawa State we have come up with an event that will bring out some of the best talents that are hidden within the state.

“This has really excited me because we have created a platform to support the breakout of the next generation of stars,” the stated.

In his speech, the Chairman of, the Nasarawa State Football Association, Mr. Salisu Galadima who led his entourage for the official unveiling of the 2024 Edition of the Governor’s Cup applauded governor Sule for his efforts which he said has contributed to the return of Nasarawa United Football Club to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

“Your commitment to sports development is greatly appreciated. The qualification of Nasarawa United back to the NPFL shows how much you love and support sports in the state,” he said.

The State FA Chairman, however, disclosed that what necessitated the move to organize Nasarawa State Governor’s Cup was to discover some hidden talents within all the nooks and crannies in the state.

“In football, there are some talents that never got the opportunity to get to play to the very top, so the main reason is to create a platform at which youths will be engaged in profitable ventures and not to be social vices within the state.

“It may interest you all that sports has taken many off the streets, particularly football. This is what we intend to leverage by organizing an event that will carry all the local government areas in the state,” he added.

Thirteen local government areas are expected to participate in the governorship tournament with each getting 23 sets of jerseys while 100 balls have already been procured for the Governor’s cup.

Top NFF officials led by its President, Mr. Ibrahim Gusau will be on ground for the opening and closing ceremony as Governor Sule is expected to pick the date for the finals.

Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the jerseys for all the teams, trophies for the winner, and first and second runner’s up respectively with some individual prices.
