Groups declare support, buy APC nomination form for North-East commodity chair to contest House of Representives seat

Twenty-one youths organization, students union, farmers and political group from Yobe State have purchased the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Assembly nomination form for the Chairman, North East Commodity Association (NECAS), Nuhu Baba Hassan to contest for the House of Representatives.

Speaking on behind of the farmers association, Chairman of Sorghum Farners Association of Nigeria (SOFAN), Yobe State, Alhaji Abubakar Lawan Gujja, disclosed that, NECAS chairman deserved to be their representative as he always identifed with the people around him for the interest of the state.

He said the farmers association, youths and others political groups donated fund over N17 million to pay for expression of interest and nomination forms for Hon. Hassan to contest and represent the people of Gulani, Gujba, Tarmuwa and Damaturu constituency in Yobe state.

The groups, who raised a total sum of N17 million to support Hon Nuhu, said after paying  for the nomination form the balance of the money is being deployed for other campaign activities in the federal constituency.

According to him, “We want him to contest. He has done a lot and our people of course contributed money. He is not even aware that we are donated this amount. We did it in our capacity We buy form on his behalf becouse we want him to go for national assembly”.

One of the political group leader, Barrister Mustapha Hassan Buni, described the donation was part of their support to Hassan to come out and contest for the seat of house of representatives come 2023.

Mustapha lamented that the incoming lawmaker as a worthy representative, who puts the people first.

He said the gesture was in fulfilment of the group’s promise to foot the bill for his nomination forms. “We made a pledge in Damaturu. we asked Hon Nuhu to contest the 2023 house of reps election and pledged to purchase nomination form for him,” he said.

In his response, the NACAS Chairman, Hon. Hassan thanked the forum for the gesture and recalled how the same was extended to him for 2019 general elections.

He called on the people of Yobe State to always give their support and cooperation to the state Governor Hon Mai Mala Buni for success in his leadership.

Some of the group that contributed to buy the forms included Baha Support Organization, Gujba Youth Forum, Gujba Grassroot Youth in Politics, Yobe Amalgamated Handcraft Association, NATA, S.A Fadama, Sorghum Farners Association of Nigeria (SOFAN), Zawarawa Association, SUG YSU Chapter, Yobe APC Samari Youth Forum.
