Alleged owner of Peace Garden Hotel, Calabar, Mr George Edem, popularly called Pappy, where teen prostitution strives
About 59 pretty and not so beautiful girls between the ages of 13 and 15 years apprehended by security operatives from two hotels in parts of downtown Calabar where teens prostitute.
According to the Cross River State Director, Department of State Security (DSS), Deacon Adebayo Ilupeju, while speaking to reporters in Calabar Saturday, said 16 men who were apprehended in the same hotel patronizing the call girls. The kinky hotels are Papsy Hotel and Peace Garden hotel along Murtala Mohammed way of the coastal metropolis.
Some of the men, he suspected, are homosexuals, cultists, kidnappers or armed robbers.
He said the agency acted on information gotten from members of the public as the facilities like normal hotels. Now, he said, the DSS is aware of such spots all over town.
Based on a tip off, Ilupeju pointed out, operatives moved into the hotels in the early hours of Saturday May 4 and discovered behind them many tiny rooms of about 50 partitioned with plywood but did not find many people inside them. However, at the nearby hotels, many girls were seen naked and were arrested after the DSS forced them to put on cloths.
Apex News was told that a cripple owned the Peace Garden hotel. Bio data of the teenage girls have been taken and the Zonal office of National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, (NAPTIP) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State has been reached for further action.
