Human trafficking: NAPTIP secures 37 convictions


The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) says it secured thirty-seven convictions of those involved in human trafficking last year.
The Director Public Enlightenment of the Agency, Mr. Arinze Orakwue who disclosed this to newsmen in Awka, maintained that the body will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to stop trafficking in persons across the country.
He said that series of enlightenment programmes have been introduced by the Agency, calling on Ministers of God to inculcate the inherent dangers of trafficking in persons in their sermons.
Mr. Orakwue, canvassed for the inclusion of human trafficking related issues into the nation’s school curriculum, as part of efforts aimed at checking human trafficking in the country.
He disclosed that the agency has nine offices across the country adding that there is a shelter attached to each office.
The Director of Public Enlightenment of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, advised parents to always know the full identity of who they are given out their children.
