Indians in Nigeria have expressed excitement over the newly inaugurated Nigeria-India Business Council designed to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Mr Kumar Pravin, General Secretary of the Afro Asian Initiative for Community Development (AAICD), Nigeria Chapter, in a statement on Saturday said this was a beautiful development that would further advance the two nations.
Mr Deepak Jain, Director-General, Federation of Indian Industry and Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of Foreign Affairs, attended and spoke on the newly inaugurated Nigeria-India business council done in New Delhi on April 28.Pravin said that the Indian community in Nigeria cherished such development and promised to work toward actualising the said goal.
“The suggestion that there should be a weekly direct flight between Nigeria and India should be put on the front burner as this will boost businesses between the two countries.
“It is also necessary to waive visa permit fee of non-working spouses who are accompanying their working spouse as the present fee is too high just as suggested at the meeting.
“We are quite excited with the development and we all pledge our commitment to ensuring all the goals of inaugurating the business council is actualised,” he said.
Also, Mr Sanjay Srivastava, President of AAICD, said this was a welcome initiative and great opportunity to start a new chapter of trade and commerece development between the two countries.
“As Indian diaspora, we shall extend full support to Nigerians,” he said (NAN)
