The Dutse Local Government Council of Jigawa said it received no fewer than 122,550 Long-Lasting Insecticidal Mosquito Nets (LLINs) for distributing to residents in the forthcoming LLINs replacement campaign in the state.
Alhaji Adamu Baffa, the Information Officer in charge of the council, confirmed the receipt of the nets in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Sunday.
NAN reports that an NGO, Society for Family Health (SFH), in collaboration with the Federal Government is conducting insecticidal nets replacement campaign in the state.
NAN also reports that the NGO had on July 21, embarked on a nine-day household mobilisation across the 27 local government areas of the state after which it would distribute 3.6 million insecticidal nets to residents.
Each household or beneficiary is issued with a net card, which would be used to collect the net when the distribution begins.
Baffa said the Manager of Primary Healthcare Development Agency in the area, Malam Sunusi Hassan, after inspecting net cards distribution, said the nets would be distributed to residents, especially pregnant women and children.
He added that the manager also commended traditional rulers in the area for their support in ensuring smooth conduct of the exercise. (NAN)
