IWD: Taraba women salute Governor Kefas, wife for setting up family courts in Taraba

Women in Taraba State have continued to applaud the state governor Dr. Agbu Kefas and his wife Mrs. Agyin for setting up family courts across the 16 local government councils in the state.
The commendation by the women came on the heels of the occasion of the 2025 international women’s day celebration in Jalingo.
Speaking during the program with Theme “Accelerated Action” the state commissioner of women affairs and child development, Hon. Mary Sinjen disclosed that the state government is committed to enforcing the violence against person prohibition law to ensure that victims of gender based violence receive justice and support.
According to her the success of the program wouldn’t have been possible without the state first lady Mrs. Agyin Kefas whose support to women in the state has continued to be recording unprecedented achievements worthy of celebration in protecting the rights of women and children in the state.
Hon. Sinjen further disclosed that the aim of the celebration was to enlighten the public on the protection of the rights of women and children and added that the day also calls for sober reflection.
The commissioner said the first lady has made remarkable achievements in advancing the course of women and children apart from economic empowerment of women and girls.
In his remarks, the permanent secretary of the Ministry Revd. Eric Juyoh commended governor Agbu Kefas and his wife for taking action towards promoting gender equity.
According to him, the state was lucky to have a caring mother like Agyin Kefas whose mission and dream gears towards initiating policy reforms and sustaining commitment in securing a place for women in the state.
The permanent Secretary highlighted that the international women’s day was a day set aside to dedicate the achievements, struggles and contribution of women across the world and dismantle barriers, implement policies that empower women and to ensure that every woman and girl has equal opportunity to thrive.
He observed that Gov. Agbu Kefas has taken bold steps to accelerate action towards gender equality, justice and ensures that every girl has access to quality learning and entrepreneurship.
Rev. Juyoh further remarked that the critical steps by the present administration in safeguarding the rights of women and children and ensuring that justice was not delayed has proved Dr. Kefas as gender friendly governor and applauded the state first lady for her foresight.
The permanent secretary also applauded the commissioner of women affairs and child development Mrs. Mary Sinjen for hard work and in line with Gov. Agbu Kefas policies and programmes in the State particularly for women and children.
