Jigawa Govt inaugurates Farmers/Herders Peace C”ttee in Dutse

The Secretary to the Government of Jigawa State, Malam Bala Ibrahim has inaugurated a 27 member Farmers – Herders Peace Committee in Dutse Local Government Area.

Inaugurating the Committee, the SSG, said the move is part of efforts of the State Government to mitigate clashes between farmers and herders in Baranda village and its neighbors for greater productivity in crop and livestock Agriculture.

Malam Bala Ibrahim explained that the committee is tasked with the responsibility to educate members of the Communities on the importance of peaceful coexistence.

“For fairness and equity, all interested stakeholders are included in the committee, including traditional rulers, Imams, herdsmen, farmers, security outfits and others” SSG said.

The SSG urged the Committee members to be fair and just in discharging their responsibility and to justify the trust and confidence reposed in them while praying for their success.

“Let me assure all the citizens of the affected communities that the committee, which is headed by the District Head of Dutse, Alhaji Jamilu Basiru Sanusi, will be just in making peace between farmers and herders in the Area” he said.

Responding, on behalf of the Committee members, the Chairman of the Committee who is also the District Head of Dutse and Turakin Dutse, Alhaji Jamilu Basiru Sanusi expressed delight for the appointment and pledged to give their best and justify the confidence reposed in them.

Members of the Committee includes; Usman Muhammad Jahun, Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Army Representative Garrison Commander, Police Representative, ACP Garba Tukur, DSS Representative, NSCDC Representative, Supol. Rufai Dashe, and Representative of Surveyor General.

Others are Representatives herders in Baranda and it’s neighbors; Alhaji Isa, Alhaji Umaru, Mati Maiunguwa, Maiunguwa Bati, Alhaji Sale Kwarai, Alhaji Yunusa Maiunguwa, Hassan Ibrahim,Ruwaji Ibrahim and Ubale Saba.

The Representative of Farmers are; Alhaji Ado Hara, Malam Audu Kafinta, Ma’awiya Abdullahi, Yusuf Agenda, Isyaku SA’ADU Katanga, Sale Barau, Aliyu Muhammad Kwaimawa,Safiyanu Ahmadu and Ado Kazaba while Mustapha Isa, Staff officer Dutse Local Government Council will serve as Secretary of the Committee.
