Kaduna Governor wife, Mrs El-rufa’i emerges chairperson, Northern Governors Wives Forum

Wife of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, Hadiza has emerged Chairperson, Northern Governors Wives Forum (NGWF).
Mrs El-Rufai emerged chairperson following the election of new executive members of the forum on in Abuja.
She replaces Dr Amina Bello, wife of the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello.
Also, wife of the Kwara State Governor, Dr Olufolake Abdulrazaq emerged vice chairperson, while Mrs Anna Ishaku (Taraba) got elected as Secretary of the forum and Hajiya Mariya Tambuwal (Sokoto), Welfare Officer.
Others are Hajiya Asma’u Yahaya (Gombe), Treasurer and Mrs Regina Lalong (Plateau) Public Relations Officer
Speaking after her inuaguration, Mrs El-Rufai called for increase participation of women in politics.
She noted that the number of women in political position is low compared to their male counterparts, adding that the country would be better off if more women are encouraged to aspire for elective position.
She called for a legislation which allowed for certain percentage of seats to be reserved for women both at the States and National Assembly.
She commended the former chairperson and members of the forum for the peaceful conduct of the election and solicited the support of the media in propagate the activities of the forum.
