The National Youth Wing of Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) held Annual Congress aimed at enabling the members to exercise their legal powers and take a final decision that will finally resolve their peculiar issues, heal the wounds and shutdown all divisive windows for the common interests and the good of the entire youths of Southern Kaduna and Kaduna state at large.
At the end of the congress which held in Kaduna, resolutions were reached following a call for motion of the major deliberation as led by the National Coordinator, Comr. Luke Augustine Duniya.
In a Communiqué signed by the National Youth Wing Coordinator and the Secretary General, Comrade Augustine Luke Duniya and Comrade Augustine Bayei said in the spirit of unity, peace and progress of Southern Kaduna, having listened to the successes recorded and futuristic plans of the Caretaker Committee, patriotic comrades Chechet Edgar B. and Pst. Zakka Maikombo moved for both adoption and affirmation of the Comrade Augustine Luke Diniya’s led administration to function in full capacity and the Congress Men and Women so endorsed.
Similarly, Comrades Simon J. Majimre moved for the establishment and appointment of acting executives of non functional Branches/Chapters and was seconded by Solomon Kish and the Congress Men and Women endorsed.
The meeting resolved that all leadership crisis in the youth wing of this are brought to an end in a peaceful manner.
“The yearning and aspirations of the majority youths of Southern Kaduna had taken a positive course for a new dimension. Youths of goodwill in Southern Kaduna who are aggrieved and hitherto agitated for just course had all eschewed their bitterness and resolved to work as a family without further grievances against one another.
Hence, a door of reconciliation has been duly opened to everyone who still may be in a state of aggression and so wish to join the train of unity for the sake of unity of purpose and peaceful coexistence in Southern Kaduna, can come in to be part of this transformation agenda.”
Arising from the recent unguided utterances regarding the constitutional shortfalls on the powers of NEC in the youth’s wing of this union and other related matters therein, the Annual General Congress has entrusted the affairs of the youth to the Comrade Augustine Luke Duniya’s led administration until fresh elections are conducted in order to give the current administration ample opportunity to put all legal and administrative modalities in place.
The Coordinators of Branches and Chapters to be appointed across LGAs and States or at Institutions where such structures are not functioning and the National Youths of SOKAPU is to work in harmony with the Union’s Mother Body and other existing organisations such as SKYSFOM to achieve it’s set objectives.
“Despite been constitutionally defined as a nonpartisan sociocultural organisation, the political antecedents of our nation and the current realities in the political space has mandated this union to be apolitical. The congress agreed to liaise with the National Central Working Committee through its political committee to make its position known having interfaced with major candidates of leading political parties in our State and Senatorial Districts, only candidates with an inclusive manifesto as reviewed will be endorsed for the good of our people. We shall sustain our bloc vote principle as our distinct political strategy which is universally acceptable in most advanced democratic nations where majority exists.” They stated
The congress cautioned all youths of Southern Kaduna to refrain from all forms of political slander, provocative statements, fake news, act of thuggery during and after the elections.
The National Youth Leadership of SOKAPU also secured INEC’s approval to be part of election observers in most local governments in Southern Senatorial District of our State.
While appreciating INEC for this recognition, the congress pledged to utilize this opportunity to ensure a free and fair process is achieved as those to be sent are advised to be more patriotic and truly nonpartisan in their dealings to repost confidence and justify the approval given to the union.
Also, the congress demands for an official report from the disciplinary committee setup to investigate the alleged misappropriation and breach of code of conduct by the President of the Mother Body, Mr. Dio A. Maisamari.
“The youths want to ascertain the conflict strategies adopted in resolving the crisis, what actually transpired in the mother body that led to the reinstatement of the substantial President of the union after his suspension without an official statement from the Body. Making such recommendations of the committee available for public scrutinize would help the youth wing in mitigating similar and inevitable crisis in the future.” The statement said
Similarly, the congress expressed deep sense of dismay over the way and manner the substantial President of SOKAPU managed the crisis that rocked the National Leadership of the Youth wing which led to the impeachment of the former coordinator, thereby, urged that such experiences should not be repeated.
“Leadership is about people whose interests are meant to be protected. The youths of Southern Kaduna were humiliated and pushed beyond their limits yet we stood our ground that the right thing must be done.
“We appeal for calm and forgiveness if the youthful agitations led us out of our ways to stepped on the toes of our beloved parents and leaders. You’re our source of hope and inspirations. Our actions were not geared towards hurting anyone neither was was it intended to witch hunt anyone not even the President nor the former youth’s leader, but to geared towards salvaging our good name as a people of identity. We hope to build a Southern Kaduna youths of our dream and that we shall stick to without fear or favour,” Added the statement.
