Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the Northwest Governors’ Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda has joined key national security stakeholders in a pivotal meeting to address the pressing security challenges facing Northern Nigeria.
Governor Radda described the meeting as one of the numerous strategic steps being taken to address banditry attacks in the Northwest in particular and the Northern Nigeria in general.
This was contained in a statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Katsina State, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed.
The meeting held in Abuja brought together National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Defense Minister Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, and Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State to evaluate and adopt recommendations from the Coalition of Northern Groups’ (CNG) Security Committee.
As Chairman of the Northwest Governors’ Forum, Governor Radda emphasized the urgency of implementing practical solutions to combat insecurity in the region.
The CNGs delegation, led by Board of Trustees Chairman, Nastura Ashiru Shariff, included Security Committee Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Yusuf, alongside distinguished members, Alhaji Ibrahim Ahmed Katsina, General Sarkin Yaki Bello, Ambassador Buhari Bala, and General Sa’ad Abubakar.
The delegation presented comprehensive security recommendations developed during their earlier summit in Abuja.
The stakeholders unanimously adopted the CNGs Security Summit’s recommendations, signaling a new phase in the coordinated response to regional security challenges.
Reacting to the new development, Governor Radda noted, “This collaboration between government authorities and the Coalition of Northern Groups represents a significant step toward implementing immediate and effective solutions to our security challenges.”
As the Northwest Governors’ Forum Chairman, Governor Radda pointed, “The adoption of these recommendations marks the beginning of a coordinated approach to restoring peace and stability across our region.”
Earlier, the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu commended Governor Radda and Governor Lawal of Zamfara State for their ingenuity and approach in tackling insecurity in their respective states.
Governor Radda, however, promised to remain at the forefront of addressing the security challenges in the region through practical solutions, productive engagement and collaboration.
