Kebbi awards N9bn road construction network for state capital

Kebbi State Government has on Tuesday awarded a multi-billion naira contract for the upgrade and rehabilitation of township roads in Birnin Kebbi, the State Capital.

While performing the ceremony in Government House, Governor Nasir Idris said the contract which was awarded to Habib Nigeria Engineering Company was a deliberate project aimed at promoting the State Capital to a befitting status

The Governor stressed that “I employ Habib Engendering and Ministry of Works to ensure compliance with the terms of the contract adding that any violation shall meet the full wrath of the law. I urge the company to mobilise to site before next Friday”.

Governor Idris revealed that contract had already been awarded for the completion of the State Secreatiat that has been under construction for the past ten years while Government would soon look into the plight of dilapidated Hospitals and Schools structures with a view to rehabilitating them

Speaking earlier the Acting Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Arch Sa’ad Musa Sakaba explained that the upgrade of the roads included the provision of Solar street lights, drainages,asphalt overlay,road shoulders as well as the expansion of narrow roads to be executed throughout the length and breadth of the State Capital

The contract according to Sakaba shall commence this week and to be completed within eighteen months

Also speaking, the General Manager of Habib Engineering, Mr Amar Nouri assured the Governor of executing quality job to make the roads stand the test of time.
