Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State says his administration will not impose any candidate during the forthcoming local government elections in the state as government prepares to set up machinery for the polls.

The governor disclosed this in Birnin Kebbi on Monday while addressing stakeholders from Arewa and Dandi local government areas who were in Government House on a congratulatory visit over the Saturday victory of Hon. Rabiu Garba Kamba, the member representing their constituency at the House of Representatives.

He said “Ours is a government of the people, as such we will not impose any candidate on the humble people of the state. Rather, we will tread the most ideal democratic processes and come up with credible candidates. We will take all the stakeholders along and enthrone people of proven integrity in local governments councils.”

According to the Governor, the people of the state deserved nothing short of good governance, accountability and honesty because they all sacrificed and contributed in the emergence of his administration.

Governor Idris acknowledged the sustained fervent prayers and tremendous goodwill of the people of the state to the APC and his administration, therefore promising to reciprocate their invaluable gestures by delivering myriad of dividends of democracy to them.

“The only way I can show my utmost gratitude to the people of the state is to transparently use the state’s resources for the common good of all by flooding the state with various people-oriented projects,” he stressed.

The Governor further explained that his administration would ensure that no section of the state was left behind in the execution of developmental projects.
