Last flight of pilgrims departs Kebbi for Saudi Arabia with Governor Idris, Speaker on board

Governor Idris on board to perform Hajj

The last batch of pilgrims from Kebbi State has on Friday left Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi for King Abdulazeez International Airport, Jedda with 211 passengers on board, which marked the end of the airlift that started on the 15th of May 2024.

On board was Governor Nasir Idris and his two wives, Zainab Nasare and Nafisa Idris; the Speaker House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Usman; Amirul Hajj, Saidu Dakingari; Accountant General, Bello Nahaliku as well as State Hajj officials and some members of the State Executive Council.

Speaking to journalists before the departure, Governor Idris thanked the people of Kebbi State for their unflinching support and cooperation shown to his administration, stressing by saying “I remain grateful to the people of the state. We are still closer together even though I am travelling to perform the Hajj rites”.

On the forthcoming Eid celebrations, Governor Idris said, “we all know that the people of Kebbi State are law-abiding and they will continue to uphold the trend, to consolidate on the tranquility and security prevailing statewide”.

He urged the people to join hands in prayers for the success and growth of Kebbi State and Nigeria as a whole in order to build a safe and peaceful nation for the present and future gerations, encouraging them to to pray for sufficient rainfall that would make them return to farmlands for crop production.

He commended State Hajj officials, especially the Chairman, Faruok Aliyu Yaro Enabo for the hitch free airlift of pilgrims from the State to the Holy Land, describing the exercise as the best of its kind in the history of Kebbi and wished to see the same action when airlifting the pilgrims back to Kebbi.
