Lottery employee docked over alleged N84, 000 theft
A 48 year-old lottery employee, Suliman Maito, on Wednesday appeared in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, for allegedly stealing N84, 720 belonging to his employer, Tayo Akingboye.
The accused of no fixed address was standing trial in the court on a two-count charge of stealing and converting stolen property to personal use.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on July 27 around 11:30 a.m. at Old Garage Road in Okitipupa.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (9) and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Dickson Ogunfuyi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum with evidence of one year tax clearance.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 28 for further hearing. (NAN)
