Algeria forward Riyad Mahrez made his debut for Manchester City on Saturday in their 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund in their first International Cup clash at the Soldier Field Stadium in Chicago, US.
Pep Guardiola lined up a relatively young side in the encounter and handed his record £60m
summer signing from Leicester City Mahrez his debut.
Mario Gotze scored the only goal from the spot in the 28th minute after Aleks Zinchenko had fouled Christian Pulisic in the box.
But it was the German side that dominated play and were duly rewarded with a goal two minutes before the half hour mark.
Pulisic skipped past Zinchenko in the edge of the box before he was clipped by the Ukrainian youngster.
In the second half, City were occasionally bright yet rarely threatened to grab an equaliser.
The only save Marwin Hitz,Dortmund goalkeeper made came from a Mahrez free-kick in the 64th minute.
Manchester City will face Liverpool in their next game on the 26th of July at the MetLife stadium, in the US. (Complete Sports)
