A 25-year-old man, Nnaemeke Edwin Odikpo, was arrested by security operatives at the Onitsha Sports Club in Anambra State for allegedly burying charms on the club premises.

The suspect, a native of Anambra West Local Government Area, was apprehended between 2 and 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

During interrogation, Odikpo confessed to being hypnotized by his past atrocities, including a failed attempt to use his mother for a money ritual in 2023.

He claimed he entered the club premises to pray for forgiveness and atonement.

However, his family members revealed that Odikpo had been behaving strangely since the botched ritual attempt. His uncle, Ikechukwu Nnachor, and siblings, Udezuo Anekwe and Aloysius Anekwe, confirmed his erratic behavior.

The club officials, including the Trustee, Chief Sir. Godwin Okeke, of the GUO Motors Limited, the President of Onitsha Sports Club, Chief Daniel Okafor and other club members, handed Odikpo over to his family members with a warning and a handwritten undertaking.

Before his release, he was given 13 strokes of the cane as a deterrent.
