Missing General: Fear not, army assures Du residents


The Nigerian Army had assured residents of Du in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State that they need not fear of any undue harassment in they continue search of missing Major-General Idris Alkali (rtd).
They pledged to adhere and respect human rights in the discharge of its constitutional roles.
The army was responding to reports that residents of Du District and its environs had fled their homes and business premises to avoid being clamped down by troops involved in the search and rescue operation for the missing retired General.
A statement emailed to Apex News by the Headquarters 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Rukuba, near Jos stated that the Nigerian Army was a professional organisation that conducts its operations with international best practices and respect for fundamental human rights.
The statement which was signed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Kayode Ogunsanya stated that troops involved in the search and rescue operation around Du had only apprehended those who have information about the missing retired senior officer based on credible intelligence.
