Mob sets 16-year-old suspected robber ablaze in Bayelsa

A 16-year-old armed robbery suspect was, on Wednesday, set on fire by a mob at Opolo in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital.
The suspect, identified as Samuel Abarimua, was however rescued alive by the police.
Witnesses said the mob pounced on the suspect while attempting to rob people during business hour in the area, close to Surplus Value Supermarket along Isaac Boro Express Way. They threw a tyre on him and poured a chemical substance, while his accomplice who was said to be armed with a gun escaped.
The suspect, who is a native of Opuama in Southern Ijaw LGA of the state, during interrogation by some police officers at the scene, was said to have mentioned the names of his gang members and promised to take law enforcement officers to their houses.
The police public relations officer in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident. (Daily Trust)
