Mortuary fire: Anambra gov’t engages forensic experts to identify corpses

Owners of the about 50 corpses at the mortuary have been advised to exercise patience as Anambra State Government has already involved forensic experts that will help in the identification of the corpses, as they were burnt beyond recognition.
The state Deputy Governor, Dr. Nkem Okeke, gave the advice while inspecting the mortuary complex that was totally razed by fire.
He assured the owners of timely completion of the exercise by the forensic experts.
Owners of the corpses were seen at the hospital premises making consultations with the officials of the hospital mortuary, as officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force were also on ground to maintain law and order.
On his part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Josephat Akabuike, said compilation of names of the people that deposited the corpses is on-going, asking them to submit their receipts for easy confirmation.
Some of the owners of the corpses including Dr. Austin Amaechi called on government to expedite action on the identification process to enable them bury their dead ones.
