By David G. Kyain, Gombe
Member representing Billiri East Constituency in the Gombe State House of Assembly, Hon. Rambi Ayala has said his one month suspension by the state executives of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is laughable.
Ayala while reacting to the suspension said the state executives lacked constitutional power to suspend him.
He said his suspension came up even before the party disciplinary committee was constituted.
He told journalists that PDP held a meeting at the party Secretariat in Gombe which he was in attendance inline with proceedures, he made some comments of interest which the party state executives feel aggrieved saying that the comments were disrespectful.
“Even before I left the meeting for an engagement, I look permission yet they went ahead to served me with a suspension letter which was also followed with a press statement. In that regard it means the party has infringed on me as a lawmaker,” he said.
He said it could be recalled during party ward congresses, three wards in Billiri Local Government Area was shortchanged after being elected and sworn-in but later removed and replaced with others.
The affected wards that includes Billiri north, Tal and Bangaje took the matter to court to seek a redress, he said.
The lawmaker also inform journalists that he has already contacted his lawyers on the matter and they have written to the party withdraw the suspension including writing a letter of apology.
He said that the party lacked power to suspend the President, Vice President  President, Governor and his deputy as well as members of national and states assembly as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution as amended.
