A former Nigeria Minister of information who once doubles as Defence Minister, Mr Labaran Maku, has said the objective of his returned to his former party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is to rescue Nasarawa State from eminent collapse and bad administration.
Mr Maku, stated this on Sunday at Keffi while addressing PDP Ward delegates on the need to vote for credible and experienced aspirant, like him who has the pedigree in managing the people.
According to him, the time has come for the PDP in Nasarawa State to be returned to power.
“These are some of the reasons that after consulting with a few of my political colleagues in the state,I couldn’t resist their call for me to rejoined the PDP.
“Let me assured you here that we have not progress, since PDP lost out of power in 2011 instead we have continue to suffer because those that had been in power till today are not politicians but Marchants, whose interest is bended in making profit to the detriment of the electorates. This must be stopped if we really desire good governance.
“So, the era of going after money bags politicians should be a thing of the past. If I may asked you, what and where did our candidate for governorship in 2015 take us to? He won not even a single local government area. Simply because he was a tool for the government at that time but I am sure that we all have learned a lesson for taking that decision by now,” Maku said
According to him, the CPC government at that time and till now as APC people would have seen a clear difference.
He said the PDP administration in the state then ensured job opportunities for the teeming youths and also introduces viable projects and programmes in the state, which the current administration is busy taking advantage over.
He said he strongly believed that if given the ticket he will return PDP to power in 2023, adding that he is aware that he is going into the primary with two of his brothers are eminently qualified, but that it is not about being qualify rather experience is what counts.
“So, I am appealing to the PDP to give me their mandate come 23th May so that we can deliver good governance to our people,” he concluded.
