The National Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Jalal Ahmad-Arabi, while on a courtesy call on Governor Nasir Idris at Government House has assured that Sir Ahmad Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, would be used for 2024 Hajj operations.

The chairman said: “Let me congratulate you in advance that the Sir Ahmad Bello International Airport will be used for 2024 Hajj operations. Let me also thank His Excellency for the support and encouragement you have been extending to the State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, towards actualising the set objective.”

The Chairman said he was in Kebbi to also inspect Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport preparatory to the commencement of the 2024 Hajj exercise, saying: “the enthusiasm of the Chairman, Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Farouk Musa Yaro Enabo in supporting the exercise is worthy of commendation.”

Responding, Gov. Idris appreciated NAHCON chairman for the visit and the encouragement the state pilgrims agency was enjoying which had paved way for its smooth operations, assuring him of all the necessary support and encouragement to excel in piloting the affairs of the commission.

He noted that his administration had paid all the funds required to standardise Sir Ahmad Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, to make it suitable for the take off of pulgrims during the 2024 Hajj exercise.

This according to him, was the reason why he ordered for the establishment of Aviation Fuel Depot at Sir Ahmad Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, to enable aircrafts refuel in Kebbi for convenience, hoping that Flynas Airlines which airlifted pilgrims to Saudi Arabia last year smoothly would replicate the gesture this year.

In his remarks, the Chairman Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Farouk Musa Yaro Enabo, commended the governor for approving all requests, including running costs of the agency, adding that the benevolence of the governor had made the agency to be the best in the country.
