Nasarawa guber: More reasons why Senator Wadada remains best bet

By Kasimu Danladi

Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada is a politician whose name rings a bell not only in Nasarawa State but Nigeria as a whole.

The Senate Committee Chairman on Public Accounts has made a niche for himself in both the political and business environment, emerging as a top notch socialite and power broker.

Senator Wadada’s unique blend of experience in both the private sector and politics makes him an attractive candidate for the Nasarawa State governorship seat come 2027.

As a seasoned politician, he has honed his leadership skills, having served as a two-term member of the House of Representatives and currently as a senator. He was recently inducted by the Chartered Institute of Taxation.

His private sector background, having worked with top companies like United Bank for Africa, Benue Cement Company, Tobaco Distribution Company Limited Zaria and Vision Technology Company Limited, has equipped him with the expertise to manage resources effectively.

The annual polo tournament at his Keffi Polo Ranch has transformed into a mecca of some sort for the movers and shakers of the society, attracting business tycoons and high-wired politicians to Keffi, with his Wadada Foundation utilizing the resources from these tournaments to support the educational and other needs of orphans and children of less privileged members of the society.

As the then Chairman of House Committee on Capital Market, Senator Wadada made his mark by projecting Nigeria’s capital market locally and internationally. Most significantly, he laid th3 foundation for most of the changes being witnessed today at the capital market through reforming the rules and regulations guiding the activities of the organization.

Senator Wadada as then Chairman of the House Committee on Capital Market agitated for the review and subsequent amendment of the Investment and Security Act, which defines various types of securities and investment products, setting standards for their issuance, trading, and disclosure.

With his spending barely one year and some months at the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, Wadada is not only being celebrated among the five most punctual Senators out of the 109, but that he sponsored the highest number of bills compared to all the other lawmakers from Nasarawa State.

It’s on record that his bill seeking to establish a school of fishery and aquatic science in Umaisha, in Toto Local Government Area has already been passed into law, awaiting the assent of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Another profound engagement by this illustrious son of Nasarawa State is his bill seeking for the upgrade of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa into a Federal University of Mining Engineering and Technology.

For a politician whose worldview abhors politics of division, Senator Wadada strongly believes that the Almighty God created human beings and separated them into tribes and religions so that they could better understand themselves. He firmly believes that differences in religion and tribe are meant to be used to further unite the people and not to divide them.

With fairness, justice and fear of Allah as his core values, Wadada is a politician who habours no grudges and is willing to forgive and forget no matter the level of animosity against him.

Given the trajectory of the present administration under incumbent Engr. A. A Sule, who has demonstrated unparalleled honesty, thrift and astute management of resources, these inherent qualities in this grassroots politician are particularly important, especially with the widespread distrust of former public officials who may have acquired wealth through questionable means.

Unlike many politicians, Senator Wadada’s sources of wealth are transparent, and he has a proven track record of accountability. His experience in both the public and private sectors has prepared him to manage the state’s resources efficiently and effectively.

As a leader, Senator Wadada has demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of his people. His legislative achievements, including sponsoring several bills and motions in the House of Representatives, and now the Senate, showcase his dedication to creating positive change.

Overall, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s unique combination of private sector expertise and political experience makes him an ideal candidate to replace the incumbent governor come 2027.
