Ombugadu weeping after being declared winner of the PDP primary election in Nasarawa State
By Francis Nansak
For the second time, Honourable David Emmanuel Ombugadu has emerged winner in the PDP governorship primary in Nasarawa State.
The emergence of the former House of Representatives member, who was also the govermorship candidate in 2019, was however celebrated by General Nuhu Angbazo, (rtd) who came second in the contest on Wednesday at Nasarawa local government area of Nasarawa State.
Ombugadu went into the contest alongside former Minister of Information, Mr Labaran Maku, who recently dumped APGA and General Angbazo, an Eggon Prince who recently retired from the military.
Speaking to journalists after the declaration of result, Senator Walid jibrin, the BOT chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, hailed the conduct of the election describing the process as transparent, fair and credible.
Senator Walid, however, called on both the winner and the losers to team up and work closely as a family for the success of the party in Nasarawa State come 2023.
Also, General Angbazo, who said no doubt that the process was transparent, added that the PDP clearly demonstrated that it is truly a democratic party.
“I have no issue with how the primary was conducted, it is fair, transparently handle and I have extended my congratulatory handshake to Honourable Ombugadu, our governorship candidate”.
Ombugadu emerged winner with 247 votes to beat General Angbazo, who came second with 203 votes. Unfortunately Mr Maku, who had envisaged he will loss the election few minutes to the commencement of voting, took a bow and withdrew from the contest.
450 delegates were accredited for the exercise with 13 from each of the 13 LGA of Nasarawa State.
Ombugadu was seen weeping uncontrollable when it was obvious that the number of delegates that voted for him had out numbered that of the retired general.
