The newly commissioned printing press in Nasarawa State University, Keffi is the largest in the state.

The University printing press management has boasted that it has the capacity to produce 200,000 copies of printable materials within 24 hours.

Speaking with the top notch management staff of Apex News Exclusive in Keffi, during a courtesy call to the printing press, the General Manager, Mr John Dickson said inspite of the challenges, which are occasioned by the ASUU strike, the university printing press would have been on production of a large range of the university’s documents.

Mr Dickson revealed that the printing press is in partnership business with Bar and Bench Publishers Limited ,under Operate and Transfer agreement.

Speaking further he said, “you know our major challenges for now is that the school is observing a nation wide ASUU strike ,while you are also aware that our main focus is to produce academic materials for the school, but because of the strike it is holding the business back. If not, by now we are supposed to have gone far.

“However, we are sourcing from the public market to run the printing press, instead of waiting for the strike to be over. As you can also see the capacity of the printing press is far bigger than what the university would want to produce.

The general manager , explained that the printing press is housing one of the biggest machines (Sord) that can produce as much as 5000 copies of books in a week.

He added that the agreement entered into between the university and Bar and Bench Publisher was that they will build the place and retain the usage and ownership for ten years and thereafter hand it over to the university.
