The Director General, (DG), National Task Force to combat  Illegal Importation/Smuggling of Arms, Ammunition, Light Weapon, (NATFORCE), Chief Osita Okereke has threaten to sue the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammad Adamu and the Nigeria Police Force unless it retract a signal sent its commands alleging that NATFORCE and its DG has been disbanded by the federal government.
The position was made known in a statement made available to Apex News in Abuja yesterday by NATFORCE’s lawyer, Chibuzor C. Ezike and Co of Que Sera Chambers.

The letter to IGP and the police is entitled “Re: Police Wireless Message Alleging Fraudulent Representation by Osita Okereke As the Director General National Task Force to Combat and Monitor Illegal Importation of Small Arms And Ammunition, Light Weapon and Pipeline Vandalism (NATFORCE) and the allegation of disbandment of activities of NATFORCE by the Federal Government: A demand for immediate retraction of the said unfounded allegation.”

The letter reads in parts: “We most respectfully request that you use your good office to retract the police wireless message which portrayed our client and Natforce as criminal elements that must be crushed by the Nigeria Police Force.”
According to the document, Okereke’s lawyers have demanded that the signal from the police vide “DTO: 041730/03/2020” be retrieved by the Police else all necessary legal action will be taken against the police.
Speaking to newsmen, Chief Okereke has warned the police against arrest and threat to his members across the country adding that such attempt will be resisted legally.
He said Natforce has been working in synergy with the Police, complementing their effort in fighting crimes.
According to NATFORCE DG, “IGP has descended so low to the caprices of gunrunners and illegal arms dealers in the country.
Speaking on the achievement of NATFORCE, he said “today in Taraba State alone, we have arrested many different gunners and kidnapers after whom we hand over the suspects to the police.”
