Natural rubber can no more be neglected, says NARPPMAN

The national president of Natural Rubber Producers, Processors (NARPPMAN), Mr Peter Igbinosun has said that the natural rubber subsector can no longer be ignored or neglected.

He has encouraged members of the association to be hopeful that their efforts and importance cannot be sidelined.

Igbinosun spoke through the national publicity secretary of the association, Mr Idehen Osaro at the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria in Iyanomo near Benin City, Edo Statewhhen the institute in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a one day workshop on,……..

Igbinosun said: “Considering how rubber development in Nigeria has been neglected for so long a time, this training is re-assuring players in the rubber value chain to keep hopes alive as the industry is gaining the required attention again.

“NARPPMAN is collaborating with Government Agencies to ensure that rubber gain back its pride of place.

“We are very confident that with all the structures in place, the advocacy visits and the present relationships with the Governors of the 24 states where rubber can be developed, players in this industry will soon start reaping the rewards of their investment.”

He commended the management of Rubber Research Institute for their untiring efforts to develop human capacity in the value chain, disclosing that they play more than 50% role in the success of the rubber industry in Nigeria.

The NARPPMAN boss encouraged the rubber farmers at the workshop to give themselves fully to the training.

Also speaking before declaring the business school for good rubber agriculture open on behalf of the minister of agriculture Alhaji Sabo Nanono, CEO of RRIN, Dr A.I. Aigbodion said they are conducting wide range of researches into natural rubber business development.

He encouraged rubber farmers to take advantage of the windows new findings they have come up, including the inter-cropping and agroallied services.

Earlier, the minister assured that the federal government was enthusiastic to reposition the rubber subsector of agriculture.

He commended the collaboration with RRIN to organise the 1-day workshop.

25 rubber farmers and entrepreneurs from all the rubber producing states had attend the event.
