NEMA supports over 22,000 flood victims In Kebbi

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), has supported over twenty two thousand victims of flood in Kebbi State with livelihood equipment, non food items as well as agricultural inputs.

The Director General of the agency, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, stated this at the Flag Off of the distribution of Special National Economic and Livelihood Emergency Intervention to Persons Affected by the 2022 Flood and the most vulnerable persons in Kebbi State.

Represented by the Head of the intervention, Ibrahim Yusuf, stated that after the flood incident the agency had conducted damage and loss assessment and relief items approved by the Federal Government were delivered across the states to complement initial intervention by state governments.

He said the intervention was also expected to drive the sustainable socio-economic resilience of the targeted most vulnerable individuals and therefore advised the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items to Improve their socio-economic conditions.

The Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar, commended the Federal Government for the support extended to the Flood victims meant to cushion the effect of the natural disaster.

For the distribution of the items to beneficiaries across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State,the Deputy Governor announced that Committees would be set up under the Chairmanship of either a Commissioner or a Special Adviser to ensure transparency.

He called on the beneficiaries to utilize the items given to them to Improve their living standards during these trying times and anyone found selling the items would face full wrath of the law.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Federal Government saying that the items would go a long way in easing some of their burdens.
