The newly appointed for the new Nigeria Police Force, Zone 13, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Mr. Danmallam Mohammed, has promised to do everything possible to checkmate the rising cases of herders-farmers clashes.
The AIG, who addressed journalists at the Command Headquarters, said he would map out strategies that would ensure that Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states have no clashes between herders and farmers.
Mr. Mohammed also promised to bring to end cases of kidnapping and armed robbery in the Zone.
The AIG called for public support to enable the police effectively combat violent crimes by giving timely them information.
He also said the police in the Zone would work according to the dictates of the laws, adding he would not tolerate any human rights abuses by his men.
“As Police officers we are going to do our best to ensure lives and property are protected in the Zone.
“We are going to defend human rights as enumerated in the constitution,” Mr. Mohammed stated.
