NGO boosts education in Nasarawa state

An NGO, Shelter Life Environmental Initiative says it has enrolled 300 vulnerable children into primary schools in Nasarawa state to enable them receive qualitative education.
Mrs Magdalene Vincent, the Project Manager of the organisation made this known on Tuesday while inaugurating 5 blocks of classroom at Agyaragu Koro Primary School, Lafia East Development Area of the state.
She said that the organisation built and donated the classrooms to the community as part of its contribution toward improving the standard of educational in the country.
The project manager disclosed that the NGO also took the burden of sponsoring the children education for six years in the primary school.
“We have decided to sponsor and enroll 300 children in this primary school in order to give them qualitative education.
“Education is the best legacy parents, organisations and government should leave for the children.
“The organisation will not achieve its aims in this community until these children are enrolled and get scholarship to the university level,” he said.
Vincent called on parents to give adequate priority to the education of the children.
She, however, called on the state government to deploy teachers to the school in the interest of the development of education.
The project manager restated the commitment of the NGO to continue to key into good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.
Also speaking, Mr Joseph Audu, Yusuf Ogbole, the Village Head of Agyaragu community, Education Secretary, Lafia East Development Area of the state commended the NGO for the gesture and called for its sustenance.
They assured the organisation that the community would maintain the class rooms. (NAN)
