An NGO, Ahmed Bola Oduleye Charity Foundation (ABOC), has commenced distribution of 10,000 notebooks, writing boards and other instructional materials to primary schools in Nasarawa State.

Mr Ahmed Oduleye, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation inaugurated the distribution exercise at the Lafia Pilot Primary School on Thursday.

He said the gesture was aimed at complementing government’s efforts and bridging the gap in the education sector, particularly in underserved communities.

“Education plays a critical role in shaping the future of our nation and we believe that our future leaders deserve more attention, resource and support to unlock their full potential, hence our intervention.

“As we distribute these exercise books and other instructional materials, we are igniting a spark of hope, and empowering young minds to explore, learn and grow,” he said.

Oduleye noted that the donation was the second edition of such interventions by the foundation in the state.

He urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the materials in order to learn and strive for excellence in all their endeavours.

Oduleye appreciated the state government and other stakeholders who supported the initiative.

Also speaking, Olarewaju Kefayat, Programme Officer of the foundation, said that the distribution was an annual exercise, which began in 2023.

She explained that the 10,000 notebooks and other instructional materials would be Lafia, Doma, Obi, Akwanga and Kokona Local Government Areas respectively.

According to her, the foundation in continuation of the initiative, intends to distribute 60,000 exercise books to 12,000 pupils across Nasarawa State in 2025.

Olarewaju pointed out that the foundation, apart from the books distribution initiative, had intervened in several sectors including health and food support to the less privileged and vulnerable in the state.

In their separate remarks, Princess Margaret Elayo, Nasarawa Commissioner for Humanitarian and NGO, and Mr DanMusa Mohammed, Director, Information, state Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism, lauded the foundation for the initiative.

The duo, represented by Mrs Blessing Ebuga and Shehu Ibrahim, underscored the importance of investing in education and the need for government’s collaboration with the private sector players in that direction.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Aliyu Kwana, Head Master of Lafia Pilot Primary School, thanked ABOC foundation for the gesture.

He maintained that the NGO had taken steps in the right direction to help indigent pupils, whose parents could hardly cater to their needs.

Kwana appealed to other spirited individuals and organisations to emulate ABOC and invest in the education of underprivileged children.
