Nigeria drug law agency arrests 365 drug suspects, convicts 174 in Adamawa

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA) nabbed 365 people suspects in possession of illicit drugs in Adamawa State in 2023.
The State Commander NDLEA Agboalu Samson disclosed this while reviewing the activities of his office in a press briefing in Yola.
He said N821,270 was seized from the suspects to Federal Government.
He said the command seized 1,845.074 kilograms of different types of drugs from the suspects.
He said most of the drugs confisticated are cannabis sativa, tramadol, diazepam, Rohypnol, methamphetamine (ice) and cough syrup.
He told the press that the prosecution and legal services of the state command secured the final forfeiture of three motor vehicles and one motorcycle.
He further said there was a decrease in arrests by 25%, 457 suspects in 2022 compared to 365 in 2023 while in terms of seizures, there is a 33% increase 1,242.182kg seizures in 2022 compared to 1,845.070 kg in 2023.
The Commander however commended the Chairman/CEO Brigadier General Buba Marwa for establishing NDLEA in all parts of the country and offices in 21 local government areas in Adamawa State.
