Nigerians cautioned against indiscriminate felling of trees

A World Bank consultant, Engineer Chris Ndubuisi says there is need for collective efforts towards actualization of friendlier environment.
Engineer, Ndubuisi, stated this in Awka during an interview with newsmen, Engineer Ndubuisi as saying that most of the serious contemporary environmental threats facing mankind are climate change.
He noted that many aspects of the planet are changing due to human induced factors hence the need more efforts towards social and environmental sustainability.
Engineer Ndubuisi stated that the relevance of trees in building a friendly ecosystem cannot be over emphasized, and canvassed for improvement in forestation.
He described the rate of forest depletion as alarming, adding that the country’s forest vegetation is basically declining due to deliberate removal of trees to pave way for mineral exploitation, infrastructural development and expansion of urban areas.
Engineer Ndubuisi urged the State Government to sustain the current synergy with World Bank and NEWMAP to ensure transformed and sustainable environment.
