Nigerians are said to be currently living under various forms of oppression due to the inability of the government to live up to its constitutional responsibility of good governance.
The assertion was made by the Chairman of the North-East Baptist Conference, Rev Ezekiel Oyebode in his Sunday sermon.
Ezekiel Oyebode who is Minister in charge of GoodNews Baptist Church, Wuntin Dada, Bauchi further stressed that the oppression include but not limited to kidnappings, armed robberies, economic hardship, incessant ASUU strike and many others.
In his words, “Nigerians now find it pretty difficult to travel out their bases for fear of being kidnapped for ransom, farmers cannot afford to go to their farms, one cannot go to the market as prices of items have skyrocketed. We are really oppressed”.
The Clergyman added that even in the religious parlance their is oppression as worshippers go to their places of worship with fear of being attacked by bandits who are always lurking around.
He however urged Nigerians to persist on their fervent prayers saying that God is busy working out divine solution to all forms of oppression in the country as promised in the book of Zephaniah chapter 3 verses 15-20.
In the sermon he titled ‘Divine Promise’, Ezekiel Oyebode expressed confidence that very soon there will be divine intervention in the myriad of the challenges facing the country because according to him, “God loves Nigeria and Nigerians”.
He then urged Christians to make it a point of duty to continue praying so that God will change things positively in not a far distant future.
