Nigeria’s health insurance scheme agency gets new spokesman


The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has gotten a new Head of Media and Public Relations, the Executive Director of the Scheme, Prof. Muhammed Sambo had said.

Prof Sambo who approved the deployment of the new spokesman, Mr. Emmanuel Ononokpono for the Scheme urged him to deploy his experience and skills diligently to achieve effective public communication of policies, activities and achievements of the Scheme, especially in the context of its ongoing reforms.

He also charged him to work closely with stakeholders of the media industry to deepen the process of recovery of public confidence in the fast-emerging new NHIS.

Mr. Ononokpono who until this development, was the NHIS State Coordinator in Akwa Ibom State replaced Mr. Ayo Osinlu who was recently promoted to General Manager and consequently posted as the Head of the Marketing Department of the Scheme.

The new spokesman holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos, and began his public service career with the media division of the Scheme in 1998.

Ononokpono is an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and an Associate Member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).
