NNL: WIkki Tourists FC, Bauchi hammer EFCC FC, Abuja 5-0

Wikki Tourists Football Club FC, Bauchi started its quest of returning to the elite league on a bright note as it crushed visiting EFCC Football Club FC Abuja  by 5 goals to nil. 

The match played on Saturday at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Memorial Stadium (ATBS) was the opening game of  the 2023/2024 Nigeria National League (NNL). 

The first half of the match which was watched by a large crowd of supporters, had ended goalless as neither team was able to score a goal despite several efforts by the players.  

Wikki Tourists FC however broke the goal silence through Nantaka who scored the first goal on 60th minutes of the game, he was assisted by a brave Sani Suleiman wearing Jessey 11

Although the visiting side were also aggressive in their efforts to score goals, yet in the 66 minutes of the game, Owolabi Aremu secured the second goal for WIkki Tourists FC.

Thereafter, there was no WIkki Tourists players as the Team Captain, scored the third goal on the 82 minutes of the game and the fourth goal was slotted in by Promise Daramola on 92 minutes of added time.

Just when the match was about to end, the fifth goal was scored by Wikki Tourists Kilinsher Namtaka in the 94th minutes to trounce the visiting EFCC FC.

In a post match interview with sports writers, EFCC FC Coach, Adeyemi Sani said that he was disappointed with the goals rain in their net .

According to him, “We had a good match in the first half of the game, we failed in the second half, the WIkki team have  defeated us.

“Our team will play more games in the upcoming days, so if we go back home, we will restrategize  for the next match, the league is just starting,” he said.

On his part, WIkki Tourists Chief Coach, Azeez Mohammed  said that the match was wonderful that secured the three points in their first game in the league.

According to him, “We have started well, we will continue to improve as the games progress because we have many matches ahead.

“We are going to look at gray areas and where to improve to become a more  formidable,” Mohammed assured.
