NSCDC honours NAN reporter in Maiduguri
The Borno Command, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Monday, presented an award to Mr Hamza Sulaiman, a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reporter in Maiduguri.
The State Commandant, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim, while presenting the award, said that the gesture was in recognition of the recipient’s hard work and objective reportage of the command’s activities.
Ibrahim described the reporter as an astute journalist who demonstrated high sense of discipline and professionalism in the discharge of his duties.
“Through the reporter, NAN published over 150 stories of the command’s activities in the past two years.
“Such effort is commendable as it informed members of the public on our activities, thereby contributing to the success of the counter-insurgency campaign and restoration of peace to the state.
“The Commander-General, Mr Abdullahi Gana, recognises the outstanding performance, and the command awarded the prize to the reporter.
“Mr Hamza is worthy of emulation by other reporters,” he said.
The state commander called on journalists to ensure fairness and objectivity in their reportage at all times.
Responding on behalf of the recipient as well as NAN, Mr Rabiu Sani, the NAN State Correspondent, thanked NSCDC for the honour.
He said the award was in recognition of the agency’s contributions to the social and economic development of, not only the state, but the country in general considering the challenges faced in the North East sub-region.
Sani gave assurance that Maiduguri office of NAN would continue to contribute its quota to the development of the state and the country. (NAN)
