The newly elected President of the National Union of Bauchi State Students (NUBASS), Comrade Sadiq Abdullahi Faggo, has declared his support to the efforts of the State Government to ensure that the State remains the safest to reside in.
He therefore pledged that members of NUBASS will continue to support the administration in ensuring safety and peace in all the campuses across the state.
He also promised to ensure that special attention is given to the security of lives of all students on campuses.
He stressed that, “The Governor’s recent alert to the presidency on the activities of some criminal elements and their high profile collaborators is testament to his unwavering desire for a crime free Bauchi State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.”
According to him, “This is also in tandem with Governor Bala Mohammed’s policy of ensuring that Bauchi State maintains its position as one of the safest and most peaceful states in the country.”
He however lamented the current hardship in the country which has made it pretty difficult for students to navigate schools as their parents can no longer pay tuition and other sundries.
Sadiq Abdullahi Faggo stated this during a press briefing held at the NUJ Secretariat on Wednesday, calling on government at all levels and international partners to intervene.
“The issue of the hardship, some students do not even have transport money to come to school or return home and some cannot afford to pay their school registration,” he lamented.
He however stated that, “We are going to approach the NGOs and government agencies to join hand s to support the students. We won’t do or allow anything that will temper with the welfare of our students.”
On the controversial students’ loan, the NUBASS Presidet assured that he would do his best to ensure that students of tertiary institutions in Bauchi State benefit from the scheme.
On his emergence as NUBASS President, he expressed his gratitude to his members for the support and assured them of his resolve to run an all-inclusive administration in which everyone would be carried along and no one will be left behind.
“It will be recalled that during our electioneering campaign, we promised to prioritize the welfare and well-being of our teeming members across the country,” he said.
The NUBASS President also promised to protect and promote students’ rights and interests.
“Now that I have the students mandate, I shall not rest on my cars until all those promises are fulfilled. This is another way of saying that I am determined to live above board so as to justify the confidence reposed in me alongside my executive,” he assured.
