NUJ Bauchi council gets new officials
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Bauchi State Council has concluded its election into various positions.
In a keenly contested election, Umar Sa’id of the Office of the Head of Service, Bauchi state emerged Chairman while Abbas Maikano of the Nigerian Televison Authority (NTA) Bauchi was elected Deputy Chairman.
Isa Garba Gadau of Bauchi State Television Authority (BATV) emerged Secretary with Adama Ibrahim as Assistant Secretary.
Others elected are Abubakar Musa Waziri of Globe FM Bauchi as Treasurer while Najib Sani, the state correspondent of Blueprint newspapers was returned unopposed as Financial Secretary.
Also returned unopposed is Danjuma Dan Sarki as Auditor.
While congratulating the newly elected members of the union, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State urged them to work towards ridding the profession of quacks masquerading as journalists.
In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Mukhtar Gidado, the Governor noted with pride, the maturity exhibited by all candidates during the election which according to him is an indication that journalists in Bauchi State practice what they preach.
Governor Bala while assuring the new working committee of the NUJ of his administration support, called on them to continue to cooperate with the government to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the state and Nigeria.
The Governor urged them to work towards ridding the profession of quacks masquerading as journalists.
