Okpoko infrastructure gets boost with road, drainage progress

By Sunny A. David, Awka

Significant progress is being made on road and drainage projects in Okpoko, Ogbaru Council Area.

Construction on Nwokedi and Edmund Streets, including extensions 1-4, is progressing rapidly, with drainage channels on both sides now complete.

A parallel project in nearby Sakamori aims to divert floodwaters to the River Niger.

Residents, including Mr. Thomas Agbala, Mrs. Alice Igwe, and Mr. Chinecherem Igwe, expressed relief, noting the road’s dilapidated condition for over two decades.

The road, stretching from Orumba to Imo Street to AP Junction and connecting the Onitsha-Owerri road, has been a long-standing problem.

They thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his commitment to the previously neglected community and urged the swift completion of the projects.
